A pretty quick guide to getting your ticket
How do I register for a ticket?
Use the same name as on your government-issued ID during registration and validate your email address by clicking the link in the email we send you. Then, login and click “register here” to be entered in the randomized ticket lottery. If you have trouble or aren’t sure if you’re registered, don’t register again with another email - or try again with the same one. Contact ticketing@sideburn.ca and we’ll sort you out!
Register between March 8-13th, 2024 for the first release of tickets, or anytime after that for waiting list tickets.
How do I enter the lottery?
Login to the site and click "Register Here" to be entered in the randomized ticket lottery!
While the system is not first-come first-serve, if you register before March 14th you ensure that you are considered in the first round of the randomized ticket lottery. If you register late, you’ll be added to the wait list behind people who were not selected in the first round.
What happens if I get selected?
If you are selected in the lottery, you will receive a notification email. Congrats! You can now buy one (1) ticket and one (1) vehicle pass for yourself as well as any tickets for minors under your supervision within 72 hours of receipt of the email.
What if I miss my ticket window?
If you do not purchase your ticket in that time, it will be released back into the ticket pool for another lucky SideBurner to snag. You can re-join the end of the wait list.
Oh no! I didn’t get selected!
If you are not selected in the first round of the lottery, don’t panic! You’ll be added to the wait list. More rounds of tickets may continue to be released, and tickets that are turned down or refunded will be offered to people on the wait list.
When will I get my ticket?
You’ll immediately receive a PDF of your ticket via email. If you don’t see it, make sure you check your spam / junk folder first, then reach out to ticketing@sideburn.ca. There are absolutely no ticket sales at the gate.
I can’t afford my ticket
Equity Tickets are available to those who are experiencing barriers to participation. Make sure to fill out the application form to be considered.
I can’t come anymore!
If you can’t come or decide you don’t want to, release your ticket back into the system for someone else by clicking the link in the email you receive. Tickets are refundable until May 8, 2024.
Do I need to volunteer?
As you go to buy your ticket, you will be prompted to log into our volunteer system and indicate at least one period and area of SideBurn where you can join and contribute. Consider taking on more than one shift! Our ability to run this event depends on volunteers showing up. You are SideBurn’s lifeblood and through your efforts you get to truly embody the Burning Man principles of Communal Effort and Participation.

Participants aged 12 and under can attend for free, so ensure you select the appropriate ticket type. Minors age 13-17 are $75 + fees. These tickets can be purchased at any point during or after the initial sale.
An ID is not required for minors, but all minors must arrive at the gate with their guardian. Any minor who does not arrive at the gate with their guardian will be turned away.
-
Every vehicle through the gates of the event needs a vehicle pass (motorcycles excluded).
You will have the opportunity to purchase one (1) vehicle pass when your ticket offer is made and can be purchased alongside your ticket or added later.
The Vehicle Pass fees are as follows:
$25 + fees - all private passenger vehicles. For example, cars, trucks, minivans, SUVs, OR box trucks of any size that are needed for the purpose of supporting a theme camp's operations (at the approval of the City Department).
$200 + fees - Any non-private passenger vehicle for the purpose of living in. For example, bus conversions, travel trailers, teardrop campers, pop-up campers, hybrid trailers, camper vans or conversion vans (Class B motorhome), Class C motorhomes OR a box truck not intended to support a theme camp’s operations.
We do not guarantee that your vehicle will be able to be driven or parked in the event area. Access will be weather permitting, large vehicles are very likely to damage the road in bad weather, or worst of all – get stuck in the field.
All vehicles large or small assume the responsibility of paying their own towing fees if their vehicle becomes stuck. All vehicles must be removed from the site no later than three hours past the end of the event.

We will use your ID to confirm your identity at the gate. If the name on your ID does not match that on your ticket, you will not be allowed in. It’s important for us to have an accurate list in advance of everybody who is attending our event.
Examples of identification that are acceptable include driver’s license, provincial IDs, and passports. The gate does not accept student IDs, dental cards, library cards, etc
-
You absolutely cannot buy a ticket at the gate. Do not show up if you do not have a ticket.
-
You can’t. If you decide you don’t want to attend when you get a ticket offer you can “reject” and turn down the offer. That ticket will go to the next person on the waiting list.
-
May 8, 2024 at 6pm is the last moment to be eligible for a ticket refund. Until this time you can generate your own refund within the system and cancel your ticket in the system.
The last ticket vouchers will be issued that evening (May 8th) and will not be refundable.

Equity in Ticketing
SideBurn strives for participation and radical inclusion for all those who wish to attend the event. We offer an Equity Ticketing program with two distinct streams with the hopes of making the event more accessible. You can apply for one or for both. If you have any questions, please reach out to equity@sideburn.ca
I can’t afford my ticket
You can apply for a Reduced-Cost ticket. You’ll still participate in the main sale / ticket lottery, but if your application is approved you’ll be given a voucher for 75% off your ticket.
I need physical support
If you require assistance with the activities of daily living (personal care, physical functions, functional mobility, etc), you can apply for Equity Assist. This means that if you receive a ticket offer, you’re guaranteed a second ticket for a person to support you that bypasses the lottery.
Apply anytime before purchasing your ticket to have your equity application reviewed. All applications remain confidential.
