Art

Art at SideBurn is one of the keystones of the event, and our mission is to enable artists to bring their creations to the event.

The Art Grant Program is intended to support and promote projects that foster the participatory spirit at the core of the event. We provide funding for radically expressive, community-based, interactive, experimental, and cross-disciplinary projects that help define the creative atmosphere we strive to curate.

Constellations

Constellations echo the essence of community: diverse yet interconnected. Each star, unique in brilliance, contributes to the captivating tapestry of the night. Similarly, individuals in a community, with their distinct qualities, form a collective brilliance. Just as stars rely on each other's radiance, communities thrive through collaboration and support, united by bonds that strengthen their fabric. Like guiding stars, communities offer direction and support, illuminating paths through life's complexities. Shared narratives and experiences weave a rich tapestry of belonging, binding individuals into a collective identity within the vast human sky.

The Effigy

The Effigy is the hearthstone of SideBurn. A symbol of unity, an act of protest, the life of the party. A birthplace, ritual, celebration, heart. It is what you envision it to be, and is shared by all.

Creators Grants

These grants subsidize the design and construction of new artwork to appear at the upcoming SideBurn Regional Event. It can be applied to the costs of construction materials and operation. Most projects will fall into this category.

A series of funding tiers are available to support projects ranging from the large and ambitious, to smaller projects that provide heavier focus on interactivity and participatory experiences.

Getting your project seen: The WWW (What, Where, When)

The WWW (What, Where, When) is the main way that other participants find out what's happening during SideBurn. Since we're a participatory event, this means that we need you to add what you plan to share with others! If you're planning on bringing art, a theme camp, gifting food/beverages, running a workshop, or generally offering something that you want people to know about and find, the WWW is how you let everyone know. It's not mandatory to submit to the WWW, but we encourage everyone to submit your events/projects/happenings to the WWW, whether it has received SideBurn grant funding or not.
