What to Wear
SideBurn takes place in this wonderful country known as Canada, and Canadian spring is an untamed and amazing creature. Any kind of weather is possible, so we strongly recommend that you check the weather beforehand and come prepared accordingly.
You might encounter sun, clouds, rain, snow, wind, cold, flies, ticks, and more. Dress for comfort and safety–but if that means wearing a giant pink unicorn onesie or a mesh g-string, go for it!
Remember: There is no re-entry to the event unless it’s an emergency, so come fully prepared for the entire weekend. Bring bug spray and black fly tape—and see how many you can catch!
What to Bring
Radical self reliance is a reality, not a concept. Bring everything you need to be comfortable for 4 days outdoors during Ontario’s unpredictable spring, including:
- 5L of water for each day for all your watery needs (e.g., drinking, cooking, washing kitchen stuff, and maybe your dirty hippie self). Remember: Soapy dirty water cannot be dumped on the field and must be hauled out.
- Clothing for the long weekend, including warm, waterproof items, and rainboots. It will get cold and will most likely rain–prepare and pack accordingly.
- Enough food. Surviving off warm vodka and granola bars is not a pleasant experience
Tip: Download our detailed packing list by following this link.
What Not to Bring
- Sequins, feathers, and other MOOP-y costume items. Remember, we’ve got to pick up every sequin and bit of glitter, so just don’t bring it!
- Pyrotechnics, explosives, firearms, and fireworks. They are absolutely prohibited.
- Motorized vehicles (e.g., e-bikes), and honestly, it might be too muddy to ride a bike anyway.
- Animals. Only certified service animals are permitted. Service Animals must be approved and require a ticket of their own, offered free of charge. Contact equity@sideburn.ca for approval. Read our full animal policy here.
